A Holly Jolly Holiday at Skye Canyon

It was a holly jolly holiday in Skye Canyon for the annual Pray for Snow community event. Hundreds of families came to Skye Center to enjoy a happy ho-ho-ho holiday season complete with a visit from jolly Ole St. Nick and Mrs. Claus. Proceeds from the event benefitted Project 150, a local non-profit organization whose mission is to provide support and services to homeless, displaced, and disadvantaged high school students so they can remain in school, graduate, and build bright futures.

Celebrating the season, the event was filled with food, family, friends, and festive fun and included a special Spread The Warmth coat drive that yielded more than 280 coats for Project 150. While the event was free, residents could choose to purchase an activity card, providing access to three photo opportunities including a photo with holiday characters and with Santa. There was a variety of winter-themed games and crafts including a station where kids could write and send a letter to Santa, holiday coloring and snow-globe making, and a s’mores station. The event also coincided with the weekly Farmer’s Market, doubling the fun.

Hosted by the Skye Canyon Community Association and in tandem with the community’s Skye Serves program and Olympia Companies Charitable Foundation, between coats, resident donations, and additional funds contributed by the Skye Canyon Coop, Pray For Snow ultimately raised a whopping $12,500 for Project 150.
